NCLEX-PN Exam and Duration

The exam is conducted through CAT which stands for Computer Adaptive Test. It is basically an interactive testing system that forms questions based on the different responses of the candidates. This exam structure substantially reduces the difficulty level for certain candidates. There are no security risks within this exam framework, which leaves more space for better accuracy and precision. Candidates can be assessed easily based on their nursing skills and a reliable measure of their knowledge. Note that candidates are advised to answer each question very carefully. Once you have submitted the solution, you are not allowed to go back to the same question again.

At first, the questions will be elementary with the least competence. As you go further into the test, you will be offered with more difficult questions. The effective computer system will help to determine your level of competence.

The Prepaway exam is primarily focused on meeting the needs of the clients. The content of the exam is integrated into one along with medical, surgical, psychiatric, pediatric, and obstetric classes. The test focuses on a high level of critical-thinking and includes application and analysis-based questions. As the test covers skills necessary to practice as a nurse, candidates are required to have a strong foundation on the subject matter before taking the exam. There are four main categories of exam content:

  • Safe Effective Care Environment
  • Health maintenance and promotion

There’s no particular order of the sections in the exam.
